There is a clear breakdown of communication here. I thought you'd take my comments in good humour.
I didn't read it that way, but sorry if I really got it wrong.

Have you got the latest model 5-series? I could get one but there are a couple of things that concern me...

1) If I get the 520d M-sport auto (I want an auto) then I'll have to forgo electric seats and tinted glass to keep in budget.
2) I'm not sure if I want to bump up to a car that big. I don't really need it and it will just be a pain to park more of the time.
Yep, latest model.

I'd much rather have the Sport Auto box than the electric seats. Tinted glass is helpful with kids, although I don't think it actually makes the sun that much dimmer. I'd probably spec built-in blinds next time.

I decided against the Auto, as good as it is, and went for Xenons and Business speaker system instead (the standard lights are crap, so I'm told). I've never had an Auto, so don't miss it or wish I'd specced it.

You do get used to the size. Parking can be a pain in some spaces, expecially shorter ones, but sensors are standard front and back. It doesn't feel that heavy to drive either - it's actually feels pretty light footed. I was planning on a new 3 series, but they weren't out yet and I was looking to save on tax and fuel costs as soon as possible. Yes, it's big, probably bigger than I need, and I'd probably get a 3 next time, but it is a beautiful car and way more comfortable than a 3 to sit in and drive.
