Well yeah, the trick is to obviously not hit them. I suppose my view is biased because I don't face the hazards you obviously do around a city. Fair enough.
To be honest I'd rather have them anywhere. Most bumps we get on company cars are people going to meetings and hitting a stupid piece of concrete that is holding a sign or something near the kerb in a parking spot that you don't expect to be there. Basically, I'd rather eliminate the risk of having to buy a new bumper. When you return a leased car any (and I do mean any) defect is marked down and charged for.
