I just looked and a provisional licence is £50, which will need to have the picture renewed in 10 years. They also fit in your wallet so are more portable than passports. I know there's no legal requirement for ID in the UK but I don't know what I'd do on occasions where I needed something if I didn't have a passport and/or driving licence when I did need them e.g. opening bank accounts or changing employer. Anyway, looks like you'll be fine to get the tickets (assuming you get some) but it was just a thought.
I don't think it's true, so why wouldn't I recommend it to you?
