Yes I know how wankel engines work

It is a straight six configuration, a rotary straight six. And we where talking about the sound it makes (if you have to try and compare it to a piston engine) is closest to a straight six, not a V8.

No, they pretty much sound like their own thing, not like any piston engine out there.

And its not a "straight six" at all. Other than burning fuel it really doesn't have anything in common with a normal piston engine.
