Each OS has its positives and negatives for specific users. It is true that linux users need a strong team of support staff that know it inside out, but the results can be extremely good if done properly.
Indeed. Linux is such a swiss army knife so to speak, as a tool it can be customised and tailored for specific tasks like nothing else. You can make it as blunt or as sharp as you want.

But yeah, without proper support it's difficult to recommend to everyone.

At my place (local aviation company) we run SME Server 8.0 servers (CentOS based) that run Apache web, and Samba 3 domain accounts/shares. The desktops are a broad mix of Windows, Macs & Ubuntu, with plenty of Androids & iPads thrown in for good measure.
