Good point. The last place I worked at that touched on film used Avid exclusively for that part of the process. They created overlays on the mac though.
Our Editorial team have AVID on some macs... but also use Linux workstations.

I have yet to see OSX being used in any of the companies I've worked for here in Finland. It's always Windows for workstations and Linux or Windows for servers. Probably due to everybody, their grandparents and kids all being used to Windows. Why force people to learn another operating system when they can start working right away in a familiar environment?
No-one is saying anything about forcing people to use certain OS's. It is unlikely smaller companies would ever use anything like Linux, due to the level of specialised support needed.
