The books are good, but they disappear from the library shelves rather quickly.

The point that I was making, as I expect some others also were, is that when basing a character in a film on a character in a series of books who has a rather imposing physique, it is rather strange to use an actor who falls rather short of the character's description.
That's why I said it would have been better if Cruise used another character's name for the role - on the other hand, there'd be a lot of work for even 'shorter' people (Cruise is reported to be 5' 7", but I don't know if that's in socks or with lifts).

The plot does sound rather derivative, I'm sure I watched a movie or TV movie with the same sort of plot.
