Why paint the CF?

it does gave me a serious sexy materials boner
To protect it from UV rays. UV will damage the chemical bonds that hold the carbon fiber sheets together. Pure bare carbon fibre is actually quite easy to damage.

The clear coat that can protect against UV is very expensive. On the order of $60k a gallon for the additive used in the paint to cover the bare CF. If the WHOLE care was clear coated CF then they'd have to use ALOT of the additive. Granted the Car is already crazy expensive and buys probably don't care about another 10 or 15 grand in paint materials. You don't buy a Pagani cause you are trying to save money.

BTW, I also prefer the way the Zonda sounds as compared to the Huayra. Zonda = me drooling and regressing to the "buy me that" stage of life.

If I saw a person mis-treating a Zonda I'd probably cry. (By mis treating I do not mean driving the piss out of it, by all means PLEASE drive the piss out of your Zondas.)
