I decided not to go....well not yet anyway. I've been looking into it and I've found that I could pay a visit to Vindolanda, Housesteads Fort, and that area of Hadrian's Wall! I'm going to need all day to do it so I'd need to go when there's more daylight. around the summer. I've looked into train fares and it's not much more than the special offer fare (I have a Railcard), so I decided to postpone my visit (I was this close >.< to booking it the other day).

One more thing, what's Wallsend like? Not that I want to spend much time there, but I want to visit Segedunum, which is located there, and I'd like to know what sort of area it is before I go, ie is it a bit "rough" and you have to watch your back or what? The reason I ask is that I vaguely remember reading something about it around the time the National Trail opened, and it said something about it not being a very good area for a long distance path to start.
