He is in the ICU. I spoke with his mother on the phone for about 45 minutes, she agreed to allow me to discuss the conversation. She sounds depressed as well, and seems to be against psychiatric treatment, she is afraid that they will prescribe medications that could harm him, which has happened in the past. I tried to reassure her that it was the best option, and that he would benefit from inpatient psychiatric treatment. She discussed a number of problems that I will not disclose here, but we need to hope for the best, and do what we can to help. The warfarin overdose is the main concern, and will need to be monitored for days.
