Doc said it took 7 hours. Morphine now working but it's making me itch all over like mad!

Ask the nurses if you could have an antihistamine, that should relieve the itch at least. If you've just had the bowel resection then i feel for you, my brother had something very similar (iirc) done for Ulcerative Colitis last year, it was a bit tough for him to get used to at first, but now he says it's great and that it's been years since he's been this pain free, so totally worth it.
