If the pain increases (Hope it doesn't) ask for either Fentanyl or some Dilaudid. The latter being very strong, make sure to get some nausea meds infused first! (I've been around the block with every pain med, IV and Oral)
Please do not follow this advice.

Do inform your nurse/doctor as frequently as necessary (even if that means ringing that button every 15 minutes) to get your pain addressed. However, please do not start asking for pain meds by name. It really doesn't sound good.

In most hospitals, if you ASK for dilaudid you have pretty much drawn "junkie" on your forehead, whether you meant to or not.

If your team is not addressing your pain adequately, ask them to consult pain management. If nothing is done within few hours, do ask to speak to a patient advocate. Everyone's pain needs to be addressed to the best possible manner it can be within realm of safety.
