Things would be different if Argentina had been allowed to retain control of the Islands.

Things would be different if we'd all stayed in bed. Things would be different if I hadn't let my cat out (I don't have a cat but that's neither here nor there).

Actually the real reason; which nobody seems to have mentioned, is the possibility of controlling the oil that is about to be mined there. Argentina would not give two hoots about the Falklands if it was not for this. The very fact that you have not even mentioned oil shows how little you really know about the situation this time around.

Yeah, it's funny how they were all quiet about them for years after the war, and now they've suddenly started going on about them again.

I would say France gave the world the United States.

The British gave us the most brutal and tyrannical empire to have ever existed and raped the face of this world.

France? Which language do you speak? Did you know that your own Constitution is based on our Magna Carta?
