I like the Field I'm in. I like I.T. as a general field. Its the troubleshooting and planning aspects for projects that I most enjoy. It does come with support level issues with users which I really don't like, mostly because the current users I support don't really appreciate IT's work or act very accommodating. If I tell them their computer is at risk because the HD is old and it should probably be replaced they don't want to give me the 1hr to clone the drive to a new HD. Instead they'd rather work it to death till I have to rebuild the machine from scratch which can take about 3hrs and then somehow save their files from the corrupted old drive. And then they'll complain about how long it takes to rebuild the PC. They also store stuff in the stupidest places, I have users who store access databases inside random windows folders.

The main reason I don't enjoy my current job is because of my manager. He's a micro-manager and that's a problem for me because I'm a self managed person. I'm more the type of person that you point in the direction of a problem and let me find the solution on my own. My manager however wants me to go by a 50 point step by step resolution that takes longer to do the paperwork than actually implementing the solution.

That said, despite my current unhappiness with my job, I'm employed and I still do take pride in my work. So I don't see my job a nightmare, just a little monotonous currently.
