I agree. A basic GNVQ in computing that you can learn in 3 hours should not be a requirement to use a PC. I'm shocked people know how to use a mouse, or do you accept people who use PCs should not know even the simplest of basics?
I accept that people all have jobs to do in the office, and as long as they are good at them it doesn't really matter what else you think they should know.

Some people are lazy, some use things so infrequently they have forgotten the next time they want it, and some just can't get their head around computer operating systems.

Bankers jobs are to make the company money (or lose it). I.T support's job is to facilitate that. If you don't want to spend your life dealing with "stupid" requests then you need to change career.
