You're not going to find much love for Norton here. But I have used Symantec Corporate several times on the job, it seems to be much better than the home antivirus Symantec puts out.
I haven't used McAffee as a primary antivirus since the MS-DOS days, where I had it do a quick scan of the bootup whenever the system loaded (autoexec.bat, config.sys, etc.). I actually just removed McAffee from a customer system, it probably sped up by about 70%. I could hardly believe how fast it was after that.
Most users here probably use Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast Antivirus. Both have a very small footprint on system resources and you won't notice it's there. I've used Avast since 2005 and I gotta say those guys know their stuff. The best part is it's all free. Gaming mode on Avast is fantastic as it'll never interrupt you during the game regarding updates or new versions, making it great for tech enthusiasts who play games.
