Nietzsche is the crown jewel of philosophers, in my opinion. Hard to read, hard to understand, but a mind like no other. In Twilight of the Idols, Nietzsche sytematically refuted nearly every philosopher who came before him. Except Emerson. He loved Emerson. In this scathing book, he takes a few moments to praise Emerson. It's sort of humorous. You imagine this guy screaming from the pulpit, and then he suddenly digresses and blushingly pays homage to Emerson, and then it's back to the ranting!
