i also heard about the commerce clause being weakened in the long-run too, benefitting conservatives.

as to his judicial philosophy, he said in his conf hearings:

They make sure everybody plays by the rules, but it is a limited role. Nobody ever went to a ballgame to see the umpire." they don't decide whether the reasoning behind a law is good, rather they decide if the law is constitutional given the laws intent
