Have you had your daughter allergy-tested? Pet allergies are often what doctors jump to first. But upon testing, they find out that the child is allergic to something else.

And if I can also add -- children usually grow out of allergies. You're talking about a permanent solution to a likely temporary problem (if in fact the child is actually allergic to the cat).
i'm not a fan of people rehoming their pets, but sometimes it is necessary. i certainly agree with having the child allergy tested, but it can take years for a child to grow out of an allergy (if they ever do) and in the mean time they have a kid that is miserable!
