Thank you all for your thoughtful and candid responses. My wife has major allergy issues with cats ... bad enough so that if the cat brushes up against her she ends up with a skin reaction. She has frequent sneezing fits, itchy eyes, runny nose, etc. When we moved in together the cat was banned from the bedroom and ended up spending a large amount of time in the basement. My daughter's reaction is just the straw that is breaking the camel's back, so to say. The cat deserves a better quality of life, as do my family members. I hope to find a great home for her and I will not take her anyplace that I don't feel comfortable with... we've dealt with the issue for a few years now so a few weeks of searching will not hurt.
