The NYC Board of Education already repealed this after parents made a fuss:

NYC Drops Banned Word List

It wasn't only evolution that was banned, but things like birthday parties, Halloween, junk food, nuclear weapons, homes with swimming pools and a long list of other goodies. Good riddance to this stupid rule.
