ARGUMENT FROM ANECDOTAL EXPERIENCE (I)
(1) I once experienced something I can't explain.
(2) Atheist offers several possible, natural explanations.
(3) You're just guessing! I was there.
(4) Therefore, God exists.

I hate it when people use that excuse "God was watching, it was a miricle, God saves!" It totally undermines the human experince, strips a human of their personal power & ultimately, their sense of self.

If a boy had the presence to hang on tight in the face of danger, the boy deserves to be praised, and that should be a marker in his life, the time you were quick-witted enough to know what to do.
Being an agnostic I am receptive of both the possibilty of divine intervention as well as the human potential. "Miracles" that some people attribute to god are usually the result of someone working their ass off to achieve results. As in the case of that boy, he deserves full credit for saving his own life.
I am rather curious to know what the mother's reaction to his response.
