Some amils/ peers etc ask the mother's name of the person suffering from black magic, sihr or anything. They then tell what is exactly wrong with the person and initiate treatment accordingly.
I am not sure how this works but what i would like to know, is it ok to give the patients mothers name for treatment?
As i have heard different and its said that these people who ask mother's name can never treat the patient fully and rid him of the problems.
Brother, the person can be a Sahir, but not necessary. If you are sure that a person is a real Peer or pious Aamil then there is no problem in giving out mothers name. The thing is that there can be many people with the same name "xyz", so mothers and/or fathers name can be used to pin point.
