A short note on the late Marhoom Maulana Ebrahim Bham Another stalwart lost to the Muslim community was Moulana Ebrahim Bham of Zeerust who breathed his last on Tuesday, 24 January 2012. Moulana Ebrahim was born in the North West town of Swartruggens where he acquired his initial Islamic education. Thereafter, he made his way to Waterval Islamic Institute (Mia’s Farm) to memorize the Noble Qur’an under the tutelage of the renowned Hafez Abdur Rahman Mia . Later, he travelled to India to study at Jami’ah Islamiyyah Dhabel and finally graduated at Darul Uloom Deoband. Since his return to South Africa in 1975, Moulana diligently served the Muslim community of Zeerust for a period close to four decades. Moulana earned the respect of every sector of his community and touched the hearts of young and old with his pleasant demeanour. A father of seven daughters and two sons, Moulana was known as man of great tolerance and forbearance. He was able to harmoniously cement all sectors of his diverse community with great affection. A major portion of Moulana’s daily routine was spent in the Masjid teaching the Noble Qur’an. Moulana was also fortunate to have spent much time in the company of Moulana Saeed Ahmad Khan who had shown great affection for him. This was in addition to his many travels to various parts of the world for the purpose of Da’wah and Tabligh. May Allah forgive these blessed souls, grant them a noble status in Jannah and bless their families with patience and fortitude. Ameen.
