Yes it does and all Auliya agree to this and there is no ikhtilaf, however there are three things in total which is a must and they are :

Fanafil sheikh
Hubbe sheikh
Ghertay sheikh

However its easier said then done though.

However another thing I'd like to point out is it will only work if your Sheikh/Rehbar/Guide has connection himself.
