imam abu hanifah (rh) supported the uprising against the abbasid khalifah.

one has to see whether the 'khalifah' has done something that has put him out of the fold of islam. this is seen in terms of his commands.
I'll just add to this.
One has to see whether the 'khalifah' has done something which has made him unfit for the khilafah. There are proper reasons for a khalifah becoming unfit for the khilafah. these include:
1) The khalifah becoming apostate which can be due to many reasons including disregarding Shariah law and implementing man made law in front of it which totally or partially contradicts Shariah law and/or does not implement Hudood and/or allies with the Jews and Christians against Muslims (which we can witness in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and other places).
2) The khalifah remains a Muslim but becomes unfit to rule due to reasons like zulm (which we see during the times of Imam Abu Hanifah ru) or turning Khilafah into malookiat (inheritance) (which we can witness during the time of Imam Hussain who rebelled against Yazid)
