Accomodate what? He barely mentioned any thing except magic which he exaggerated and claimed it is shirk. Magic is a reality not a superstition. Its is forbidden but not shirk. So until you point out what exactly your even reffering to as superstition that is rampant among Omanis, its meaningless to continue having these forms of "I heard" arguments. I have seen plenty of Omanis and find them more religious and disciplined than others.
I can forgive the OP for not being straight and clear with the way he started the thread but that still does not negate the fact that some here are defending magic and superstition as not shirk.

He actually mentioned ''NOT ALL'' Omanis are into this black magic and witchcraft. Yet, its known around the gulf how Oman is 'famous' for witchcraft. I doubt anyone will confess publicly they are into that stuff and some Omanis are likely to single out those from Bahla and Dhofar especially have been known to dwell in the dark arts.

Moving on to local superstitions, I remember there was a youtube video in which showed a an old woman was standing on Al Haffa Beach in Salalah chanting to the crashing waves of the ocean while her 'helper' was down on his knees in the water slaughtering a goat...yup, people there make sacrifices to the sea when it gets rough. In Salalah, many people continue to make such sacrifices when the monsoon starts in order to protect the town and our fishermen.

Furthermore, superstitious people from the mountains of Dhofar also make sacrifices to water springs when they dry up in hopes of hearing the sound of gushing water again....and I've seen many Omani families burn frankincense at sunrise and sunset in order to ward off evil spirits, black eyeliner is often applied to new-borns to protect them from the evil eye, and naturally, black cats are believed to be associated with demons. Oman is full of superstitions – that's for sure – even though there is no place for superstitions in Islam.

We cant pile on thread starter while we clearly have a problem mainly from Ibadis who DO NOT believe that Qu'an are the words of Allah(SW)
