If so, please provide the reference, i myself have never heard anything like this.

There are some employers in Gulf who dont like beard, some dont even like Hijab.
Its not uncommon for girls wearing Niqab/Hijab to be turned down from jobs, and similarly brothers having Sunnah beard can be at a disadvantage.

What I found is that many people from Levant regions (Jordan, Syria) and Egypt look down upon Niqab and Sunnah beard and it is often them (or the obvious nonMuslim) who object to workers practising.

But yes this discrimination is less prevalent in Saudi Arabia then lets say the other Gulf states
