Egyptian Ikhwan al Muslimun's rejection of Maududi's views
Many people think that the Arab Ikhwan al Muslimun and the Jamaat Islami of Indo-Pak are similar. Also, the JI people try to highlight this similarity. Below is a reference to the Ikhwan's rejection of Maududi's views. It's significant to know that many of Maududi's (and even Sayyid Qutb's) controversial views were rejected by the Ikhwan al Muslimun and their second chief Shaykh Hassan al-Hudhaibi had actually written a book "Du‘ah la Qudah" (Preachers not Judges) refuting his thoughts. He has even refuted Sayyid Qutb's controversial book 'Milestones'. Shaykh Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi R.A. also quotes passages from this book in his own refutal of the political Islamism of Maududi (see 'Asr e hazir mein deen ki tafheem wa tashreeh' by Shaykh Nadwi)
Dr. Mohamed Habib, Deputy Chairman of the Ikhwan al Muslimun (Muslim Brotherhood -MB) says:
"The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) papers and literature emphasize that we are advocates of peace and coexistence not judges as stated in one of the most MB recognized researches "Du‘ah la Qudah" (Preachers not Judges) written by the second MB chairman counselor Hassan al-Hudhaibi (1974-1951).
This research represented a refutation of Almawdoudy
(Maududi of Jammat Islami of indo-Pak) views and laid an emphasis on the
mistakes of extremist groups in understanding and interpreting Qutb’s ideas
; such extremist groups misinterpreted Qutb’s views and adopted ideas contradicting the basic principles of MB group laid down by Imam Hassan al-Banna who adopted an approach based on peaceful democratic change, developmental societal work and political reform.
