Yes, I believe so, too. My theory is that they have no love for the U.S. because they feel like they don't belong here and also because their parents have taught them to see themselves solely as Mexicans and not as Americans, even though they were born in the U.S.
Also, many of them do not integrate into mainstream American society and don't identify with American culture, some actually see it as something foreign or alien to them. I have integrated successfully into American culture and feel pride and respect for this country. Sometimes, I'll admit, I do side with Mexico, especially at sporting events but only because Mexico is such an underdog or has mediocre athletes, that I do root for them to kick the Americans' ass at least once.
I have to disagree with you, AFL. My nieces and nephews are taught they are Americans of Mexican (and/or South American) descent, but the whole not integrating is bull. I've been in many communities with people of different ethnic backgrounds that integrate the same. It isn't seen as anything bad when Polish-Americans speak Polish, follow their customs, traditions, are Catholic, support Poland in football before USA, etc, but it is seen as bad if a Chicano does it. It's not seen as bad if African-Americans have their own culture, slang, preferences, personalities different from WAms, but it is seen as bad if Mexican-Americans do it.

No matter how much we teach my USA-born/bred little ones in my immediate family, even they say "I don't look American" or "they don't see me as one."

Sorry to say this, but Chicanos/ Mexican-Americans will never be seen as just Americans as much as one has love for their country. And I can bet you anything that if you got into it with somebody "Go back to Mexico" will be one of the first things they'll tell you. Look at how much BS Jessica Alba got for it, too.
