This somehow reminded me of this old incident:

http://articles.latimes.com/2004/aug...cal/me-iraqis6

Barred as a security threat from City Hall in Memphis, Tenn., then robbed while strolling that city's streets, a delegation of Iraqi civic leaders ventured Thursday into Santa Monica -- and emerged unscathed by its brush with that city's distinctive local politics. They came to town to learn about democracy. At City Hall, a city councilman threatened to call the bomb squad if they entered the building. Then later in the downtown tourist area, they were robbed at gunpoint.

Now that's what I call southern hospitality.
