This argument not entirely valid, as Black vote is usually over 90% Democrat and by your logic a lot of White people voted for McCain because he is White.
thats why i followed up with "and he's a democrat". if he was a republican he wouldn't have gotten the black vote. that year saw a large black voter turnout, when in general its rather small. and i've definitely heard people say straight up "i voted for him because he's black and i want to see one of my people in the white house"


white people ar less likely to vote on racial lines, because they are already so well represented already. whats the point in voting for based on race when 90% of the people running are your color. believe it when i say if an asian president comes along he's going to secure the asian vote, or hispanic securing hispanic votes over a white person in the same party etc. its just how shit is. sure there will be some to go against the grain and vote for the opponent but in general people vote for people who they feel more comfortable with and who they can relate to. when you are a minority its even doubly true.
