That's a retarded statement. If education was so valuable then parents would bid up salaries for private school teachers and force up pay in the public sector. If anything, taxpayers are overpaying. Taxpayer preference provides a floor, not a ceiling.
The value of educating a child does not equal what their parents will pay. Are children with poor parents worth almost nothing? And since public schools don't charge tuition private schools are at a disadvantage. The private school teacher has to be worth thousands of dollars more for someone's child's education than the public school teacher. So unless private school teachers are worth A LOT more people won't switch to private schools and won't drive up the salaries in private schools.
