Here's my formula for getting Obama re-elected. It's what I would do if I were him, and it's pretty simple.

Never shut the fuck up about bin Laden getting his brains splattered. Make sure to frame his escape from Tora Bora as a failure. Use the word "fail" as often as possible when referring to Bush's dealings with him and "success" when referring to Obama. "We successfully got bin Laden where the previous administration failed."
Refer to Republicans as "extremists" as much as possible. While lying is sometimes necessary in politics, in this case telling the truth is important. Be truthful that the Republicans are extremists who don't mind letting poor people die due to lack of health care.
Contrast Bush's losing jobs to his administration creating jobs while still sympathizing with people who are hurting. Hammer away at how much the Republicans will hurt those who are already hurting. Never shut the fuck up about how the extremists opposed extending unemployment benefits.
If Obamacare stands, hammer away at how it's helping people. If it's struck down, hammer away at how extremist judges on the Supreme Court have hurt the American people (implying we need Obama to appoint better ones). If is the nominee and he bitches about Obamacare, expose his hypocrisy. "You passed Obamacare Beta in Massachusetts."
Show tons of respect for the military, but remind us over and over that he got us the fuck out of Iraq.
Portray the Republicans as war mongers who will get us entangled in a war with Iran. Steal a page from LBJ's playbook showing Republicans blowing up nuclear weapons. Scour the archives for reckless quotes from Republicans about using nukes and then use them over and over in scary ads that make it look like the Republicans will get us all blown up.

Blame the Republicans for 9/11. We got attacked under their watch and we'll get attacked again if they're back in power. Create as much fear as possible.

Republicans want people to die because of a lack of health care -- unpatriotic. Republicans let bin Laden get away -- unpatriotic. Republicans want jobless Americans to suffer without benefits -- unpatriotic. Republicans sent US soldiers into battle without proper body armor -- unpatriotic.
Blame the bank bailouts on Republicans. Actually, both parties were responsible for this crap, but that doesn't mean you can't make it stick to Republicans.
The Republicans will use the bad economy against you. The antidote to these attacks is FEAR. Make it very scary about how much worse it was and under the Republicans and how much worse it will be if they get back into power. Then put as much feel good emphasis on things that have improved. Jobs have been created. There has been economic growth. It's perfectly fine to admit that we still have a long way to go, as long as it's shown as very scary if the Republicans extremists (and use that word often) take over.

This should work. Whether or not Obama will have the balls to play this dirty remains to be seen.
