OK, we know it's propoganda, but why would the Washington Monthly list the death of the space shuttle and moon landing as accomplishments?

We put those evil space explorers in their place!

Because it's, omg.. EXPENSIVE AND DANGEROUS!

Which, I figure roughly translates to: "That's money we could be giving to the unions.. "
