Of course the political benefit goes without saying.. The libs would win a permanent victory, and small government conservatism would go down to permanent defeat. Which might not be a completely bad thing.. It hasn't delivered and it deserves to die as a result. Liberalism, meanwhile, has delivered massively.. Their proponents have many accomplishments to boast. Small Government Conservatives? Not so much.. As has been demonstrated repeatedly.. There simply aren't many small government types in daily life. There's no support for reigning in entitlements in the Republican party.. Let alone anywhere else. Everybody wants their subsidy.. and they want all the costs associated with it to be socialized.. This would cement that victory in place.
