There are a large number of utterly decent, hardworking, spiritual, unsophisticated folk in this nation who don't have the notion to look as deeply into politics and government as some of us.

That does not qualify them as cretins. Left to their own devices, these folks make the nation a very nice, productive, peaceful place to live.
