SMALL FIRES IN THIS AREA CAN GROW TO HUGE

WILDFIRES IN LESS THAN AN HOUR'S TIME.

TODAY, THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY IS NEAR O% AND

THE WIND IS GUSTING 35-55 MPH. BLOWING DUST HAS

REDUCED VISIBILITY TO ABOUT 1/2 MILE...LESS

IN SOME AREAS.

A SMALL GRASS FIRE CAN ERUPT INTO A CONFLAGRATION

AND RACE FOR MILES UNDER THESE CONDITIONS.

THE DUST PREVENTS SEEING SMOKE AT A DISTANCE.

SO FAR, I DON'T SMELL SMOKE. THE WIND IS

LIKELY TO BRING DOWN A POWER LINE SOMEWHERE...

AND THAT MAY WELL SPARK A FIRE IN SOME REMOTE AREA.

ANY IGNITION EVENT CAN BRING WIDESPREAD DISASTER...

REGARDLESS OF WHO MANAGES EMERGENCY SERVICES.
