He has not pledged to balance the budget. His plan does nothing to balance the budget. Remember that. Even the Ryan Plan, which he supports, does not balance the budget for almost 30 years.

Now, he has said he supports a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. Which is odd, since according to his spending plan, that would necessitate massive tax increases.

But that''s neither here nor there. Because there will not be a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. There aren't the votes for it, nor will there be anytime soon. It's a moot point.

Now, as to Obamacare. It isn't going to be repealed. The Republicans will not have the filibuster-proof majority needed to get it through the Senate. They can probably get away with removing certain parts of it, even some major parts of it, through the reconciliation process, which requires only a simple majority.

That is, assuming that the Republicans pick up 4 seats this year, which is certainly possible.
