The main argument I've heard is that the disenfranchised, the elderly, the disabled and others, don't actually have ID like a drivers license. There are no laws stating you need photo ID. So I can see where an argument could be made.
But state ID's are very easy to obtain. EVERYONE needs a photo ID to collect any kind of welfare, including food stamps and Social Security. YOU HAVE TO SHOW SOME FORM OF PHOTO ID IN ORDER TO COLLECT THOSE BENEFITS.( along withe a birth certificate)PERIOD. So there goes that theory out the window.
