That doesn't prevent some right wing group doing the same thing and maybe even offering them $15 to vote Republican. The only problem with your scenario is that once someone is in the voting booth, there is no way of controlling which way they vote. If "those people" can be bought, then they can't be relied on for anything.

Sort of like most politicians.

You missed the point. If an ID is required no one can scam the system--or at least it becomes much harder.

The "I jus be too po to get a ID" is bullshit.
