Something you have to understand is that America is different. Much of the rest of the world doesn't care about intrusive government.

Provided that it is administered with a reasonable degree of competence, they're all for assistance and social programs of the exact type that Hezbollah provides.

Of course they're popular.. Why wouldn't they be?
