We elect the individuals who support or permit legislation. It's not quite the tyranny implied here.

And a child hit by a vehicle traveling at 40mph has a 10% chance of survival. Rising to 90%, if hit at 20mph.

People deserve to be safe. In return for their vote, they deserve at least a modicum of consideration and protection.

Speed limits do nothing to increase safety.

You can actually suppress traffic speeds by constructing roads in certain ways, and by adding speed bumps, etc.

Speed limits just give cops an opportunity to harass and steal money from the general public.
