The guilds train the tradesmen, right?
I was talking about apprenticeships.
Did I say "unions?"
Nooooo.........................................
Guilds? None that I have ever heard of, other than unions.

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/guild
a. An association of persons of the same trade or pursuits, formed to protect mutual interests and maintain standards.

Sounds like a union to me.

Most apprentices that aren't in a union, simply hire into a company applying that trade, and work their way up.

It's nothing as formal as a guild, or even a club.

Again, I support the trades, but not by collective methods.
