1) To influence lawmakers.. Push them to act in favor of the protestors.

2) To provide cover, enabling lawmakers to act in favor of the protestors without reprisal.

3) To drag political discourse to the left.

4) To de-stabilize major cities and create conditions for a full blown revolution.

5) An attempt to create the basis for a third party.

6) To provide Barack Obama a perverse sort of political cover, and a street level mandate to lead and implement more of his leftist policies.
