Do you know how difficult it is to effect a recall?
I'm talking about voting them out of office.

Hoff, local politics is just as corrupt as national politics.
Honestly. I do know this- trust me. It can be, but the damage is localized. When you nationalize every issue, and consolidate all power in DC, then the corruption affects us all, everywhere.

And it needs to stop.
As far as campaign finance reform:

Allow a set equal amount of money for all candidates with accounting for every penny spent (they have to account for it now anyway).
This can come from a general fund that people can contribute to if they wish.

Now this is if I were queen of the universe, so I would forbid any television campaigning in ad form and make people READ what a candidate stands for Won't work.. News orgs will offer favorable coverage and in kind assistance to favorites.. There will be bank accounts in the Caymans, millions of books purchased and then given away, tips on the golf course, hiring of relatives and lucrative, post congressional employment..

Debates can be televised but conducted by the League of Women voters. Of all the debates I've seen, they hold the best, balanced and well controlled debates. So it really doesn't matter if a candidate gets promised a job for his family or anything, not for a campaign at least. Corruption after a politician gets into office is another matter. The 2 parties need more competition.
