The "rescue" happened in April, Sarah.. He didn't tank because of the failed rescue and Reagan didn't get a bump from it.

GHWB had 90% approval following Desert Storm.. Yet he lost to a nobody.

Dubya Jr had sky high approval following the terror attacks, and barely got elected.. Only then because the d's ran a fucking northeast dweeb with the face of a horse.
