Reagan was quite possibly the greatest president we've ever had. I think he only endorsed Ron Paul back then because he had no idea how much of a stoner he was.

In 1976 Ron Paul ran under the libertarian party.

If that doesn't scream stoner, then I don't know what political affiliation does.
