No, because physical punishments can be taken too far and kids could get seriously injured.

I don't think kids are acting out in school because they aren't being paddled by their teachers on a regular basis....it's the fact that parents coddle the kids and when a teacher does dole out a bad grade or a punishment like detention, the parents throw a fit and threaten the school with a law suit for daring to try to discipline their little darlings.

A teacher can't even look at a kid without being threatened with legal action. The profession has become a fucking joke.
