Default The Problem With Democrats And Republicans
Democrats and Republicans are supposed to be working together to lead our country. However, they seem stuck at an ideological impasse. Basically there are supposed to be two camps:

Democrats: use entitlement programs and a progressive tax code to make capitalism less brutal.

Republicans: see entitlement programs and a progressive tax code as oppressive and unproductive.

The problem with the Democrat's position is that the state creates run away spending on programs that just grow and grow, until they finally bring on an economic collapse, while on the way to that, "appropriating" the wealth of those who have more than most, often times, because they worked at it and used their heads.

The problem with the Republican position is that they offer nothing to replace the state, in its function of making capitalism less brutal. They talk about charity, but lets face it, do you really want to have to depend on that, when your life is at stake; I mean, do you trust the Warren Buffets, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates of the world to donate their money to make sure you can pay for your surgery, get retrained for a new job, since your last one got "off-shored" make sure you have something when your old, so you don't have to live as a beggar and die on the mean streets from kids beating you with sticks, if your savings gets wiped out in the next housing bubble? I know that community churches can be generous, but they don't seem that generous!

I don't blame Republicans for hating the welfare state, but until they can come up with a politically and economically viable option, they're just blowing hot air and I think their leaders, at least, know it.
